Travelling to Preston

Preston has connection to all major transport hubs in the UK, including airports, train and road.

Prestons Closest Airports



Manchester Airport is the closest airport to Preston and has a wide range of flights to numerous destinations

Liverpool Airport is the next closest , and it doesn't have as many flights, but is still easily accessible

Leeds Bradford is another close option 

Preston Airport Transfers are quite affordable and are a convenient way to get to and from the airports.  
The cheapest option are the regular coach services.

Getting to and From Preston by Rail

Preston is served by the Avanti West Coast railway line.   There are regular trains to the UK's major transport hubs.  Preston to Euston runs every hour and takes approximately 2 hours

Preston to Manchester runs every 15 minutes and takes 40m

Getting to and From Preston by Road

Preston is served by a few Motorway networks including M6, M61 and M55.
The M6 runs to Calisle in the north and Warrington in the South.  The M61 takes you to Manchester, and the M55 to Blackpool

Preston is just thirty miles away from Manchester and Liverpool,  





There is an extensive network of buses in Preston.

The city’s main operator, Stage Coach operates to places such as Chorley, Bolton, Fleetwood, Kirkham and Morecambe, along with city routes that take you throughout different areas.

Preston is also host to a Park and Ride service, which has two sites: Portway, which is situated closely to Preston Docks, and Walton-le-Dale, which is situated near the Capital Centre.

Preston has a wide range of public transport options available for residents and visitors.  There is an extensive bus network, and rail network and the area is served by cycling routes, coach services and taxi networks

Bus Services

Although the Stagecoach in Preston system is the most popular way to get around the city, there are also other alternative ways to travel.

Residents and visitors are urged to use Preston's many bike paths.

The Guild Wheel, which was developed as a permanent memorial for the Preston Guild 2012, is the newest addition to our cycle routes. This route takes you through the various landscapes that surround the city, as well as down the River Ribble and into some great wooded areas.

 There are also a number of expanding cab firms operating throughout the city. They have offices in Fulwood, Deepdale, Ribbleton, and Penwortham. You can select a low-cost, local provider or the more popular and highly rated All Preston Taxis



Finally, Preston Railway Station is a vital stop on the West Coast Main Line. There were many more railways in the past.
